Hot mess Christina Aguilera and boyfriend detained by LAPD in DUI case

After the atonal fiasco at last month’s Super Bowl you’d be forgiven for thinking life for Christina Aguilera couldn’t get any worse. You’d be misinformed. Today the 30-year old singer was arrested in a DUI case.

Sources close to the LAPD say Aguilera was a passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler. Officers noticed the car weaving all over the road in West Hollywood at around 2.45am this morning and did a traffic stop.

“The driver was determined to be driving while under the influence of alcohol and arrested,” says the statement released by Sheriff’s Deputy Bill McSweeney a few hours later.

Officers then noticed Aguilera was “extremely intoxicated,” so she was also taken into custody. Matthew is now in a holding cell at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station and bail has been set at $30,000. Christina’s bill is $250.

Friends of the singer admit they’ve been trying to get Aguilera into a rehab program for weeks, after a list of drunken antics that keep getting worse – She had a fight with her mother at a New Year’s Eve party, spent all night drinking and crying at a club in LA called ‘The Dime,’ and even passed out in Jeremy Renner’s bed at his 40th birthday party on January 8th….to which she had not been invited.

“Her friends are fed up,” one source says. “She’s really spiraling. I’d be shocked if she’s not in rehab within a month.”

What question(s) would you ask Charlie Sheen if you were interviewing him?

I have been amazed at all the interviews (The Dan Patrick Show, The Alex Jones Show, Radar, TMZ, ABC, NBC, CNN (Piers Morgan) Charlie Sheen has done over the last few days, and the lack of tough questions that have been fired at him for the most part. For one thing I would love to ask Charlie, when was the last time he slept? And if he is such a ‘winner’ like he proclaims why does he date porn stars and have 3 broken marriages? And how about a follow-up question to his ‘warlock with tiger’s blood’ claim? And why does he thinks his fellow castmates, who he admits have not reached out to him once during this whole burst of media madness are not showing any solidarity?

I realize in his current state it’s not like you can expect a reasonable answer, but I think Charlie is starting to realize on occasion what he has gotten himself into after his longtime publicist, Stan Rosenfield, quit on Monday. Piers Morgan, asked Charlie if there was anything, he regretted saying during his recent media blitz. To which Charlie replied to his comments about “Two and a Half Men” creator Chuck Lorre, whom he called by his real last name and then a Hebrew version of his first name: Chaim Levine.

“Well, yes, I do, I regret it in a way that I didn’t even think about it,” Sheen told Morgan. “I should have thought about it. Stupid, stupid move.

“I thought the rules had been established,” he continued. “He calls me Carlos Estevez a lot, which is my real name, and then I saw the other name on his vanity card, and I said it, and the world just started burning down around me.”

Another big regret? The bizarre demand for a raise, to $3 million an episode, to do another season of “Two and a Half Men”. “No, that was stupid,” Sheen said. “I was joking about being underpaid but to come back, um, Season 10, but that’s all negotiable; you can’t talk about this stuff on television.”

Anne Hathaway, James Franco ‘hate each other,’ sources claim

Sunday’s telecast of the Oscars was watched by 37.6-million people, and if sources close to the show are correct, James Franco and Anne Hathaway must have wished they were among them;

The pair seemed friendly on screen but insiders claim the two hated each other after days of tense and endless rehearsals;

“She had to provide all the energy – he was just phoning it in,” one snitch tells Us Magazine. “James seemed in his own little world.” says another. “The producers were pissed.”

In news that may add substance to these claims it’s known that 32-year old James skipped a party arranged for him at ‘The Writers Room’ in LA after the show and left town at once;

“He immediately went back to NYC because he was pissed about how the show went,” another source assures us.

But don’t start making dolls of James and inserting the pins – his rep’s response makes this sound like nothing more than jealous Hollywood minions trying to get paid for fake scandal.

“This is absolutely not true,” is the feedback from Jim’s trusty rep. Anne’s assistant was equally dismissive;

“Anne had a wonderful experience with him,” they insist.

Meanwhile, people close to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts who run the whole soirée say calls are already being made to find next year’s host. So far, Hugh Jackman and Billy Crystal have both said they want to return.

I say let them do it together – it would be the first interesting Oscars in years!

Tim Burton, Josh Brolin prepping new ‘Hunchback’ film

The films of Tim Burton have a visual impact of which other directors can only dream. Now he and Josh Brolin are working on a film that could be the perfect example – ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame.’

Warner Brothers are in the early stages of development on the film, which Tim would direct. Josh would be both the star and a producer, and the script is being crafted by Kieran and Michele Mulroney who wrote the Sherlock Holmes sequel ‘A Game of Shadows’ for the same studio.

But the story is perfect for Tim – Published in 1831 it’s about Quasimodo, a deformed bell-ringer at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He meets a poor gypsy girl, Esmerelda and their bond brings them nothing but pain. There’s love, betrayal, legions of soldiers, a hanging and more bodies and graves than even Tim could conceive. It’s a classic!

And Tim may be the only director who could find a new way to tell a story this famous. First made as a film in 1905 it’s been produced eleven times for the big screen, three times for TV, twice as a play and ten times as a musical…So it needs a fresh mind.

The snag so far is commitments – Josh is in charge of the project and he’s firmly on board. But Tim is in preproduction on ‘Dark Shadows’ with Johnny Depp and won’t commit until he sees a script. So the whole thing could still fall apart.

But can 43-year old Josh really play another deformed hero? He starred as Jonah Hex for Warners last year and that was a critical and box-office bomb, so history does not suggest good times in Paris.

Tim’s gift for visuals could make this the most original telling of the story in years. But Josh as a hunchback might not appeal to his fans. The movie is not even in casting but give us your views – would you go and see it?…

Tom Cruise Confirmed to Take Lead in ‘Rock of Ages’ Movie

The rumors have been confirmed! Tom Cruise will play a heavy metal rocker in the big screen adaptation of the popular Broadway musical ‘Rock of Ages.’ The film’s director Adam Shankman admitted the rumored casting to Ryan Secrest on the red carpet at the Oscars, reports Us Magazine.
Cruise, 48, is set to play fiction metal singer ‘Stacee Jaxx’ and will be singing the Bon Jovi classic ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ in the film. When asked how the ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor was when it came to singing, Shankman replied that “He’s studying his vocals. He can sing! It’s a miracle.”
‘Rock of Ages’ is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, where a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club, and they fall in love to the greatest songs of the ’80s.
In the photo above, Cruise set tongues wagging last weekend when he attended a performance of Rock of Ages in LA with wife Katie Holmes.
Former American Idol contestant and Rock Of Ages leading man Constantine Maroulis, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming Rock of Ages film last week, and what he thinks of the casting news and rumors.
“I think the guy’s amazing, and I think he would just crush it,” he said of Tom Cruise. [Stacee Jaxx] would be a great role for him because he can use all his ability and put it into this character.”
